Apollo Rising Capital Campaign
Overview
The Apollo Rising Capital Campaign is a $96 million public and private initiative to restore, expand, and sustain the legendary Apollo Theater. The campaign goal includes $12 million earmarked for endowment to support ongoing and future programming at the Apollo. To date, the Apollo has raised $51.5 million toward this goal.
The campaign has two primary objectives:
- to restore and renovate the historic theater; and
- to establish an endowment to sustain operations and support future programming, such as the Apollo Archive.
Campaign Launch
The Apollo publicly launched the national phase of this major campaign in January 2008. The next several months will be a very exciting time, not only as we raise critical funding to provide for this unique institution, but also because we will be taking our shows on the road. Keep your eyes and ears open for some very special events, showcasing and celebrating the world-famous Apollo Theater in six cities: Atlanta, Chicago, Detroit, Los Angeles, New York, and Washington D.C.
Campaign Leadership
The campaign is led by Richard D. Parsons, Apollo Board President and Campaign Chairmen; Vice Chairmen Alfred C. Liggins III, Chairman of TV One and CEO and President of Radio One in Baltimore; and Quincy Jones, legendary entertainer and CEO of Quincy Jones Productions, Inc., in Los Angeles. Mr. Jones is the National Chairman for the Name-a-Seat initiative.
